How to Organize Your Home for Easy Cleaning: Tips and Tricks

When it comes to organization, there are a lot of different opinions out there. Some people believe that everything should have its own place, while others think that being organized is all about having a system in place. Whichever camp you may fall into, one thing is for sure: organization makes life easier.

With an organized home, cleaning becomes much simpler. In this blog post, you will learn some tips and tricks for organizing your home so that cleaning is a breeze!

Use containers

One of the best ways to organize your surfaces is by using baskets or bins. This can be especially helpful in the kitchen, where you can use them to store fruits and vegetables, as well as utensils and miscellaneous items.

Keep your shelves, closet or under your bed organized with containers. Opt for good quality and great looking ones to make your home not only look tidy but stylish too.

Another great way to utilize baskets is by using them to store toys. This will keep your child’s play area neat and tidy, and it will be much easier to clean up when they are done playing.

Label everything

If you want your home to be truly organized, you need to label everything. This means labeling cabinets, shelves, drawers, and even individual items. Not only does this make things look neater, but it also  makes it easier to find what you are looking for. When everything has a designated place, there is no need to search through every cabinet and drawer in your home; you can just go straight to the one that you need and save time running around tidying up before cleaning.

Create zones

Another great way to organize your home is by creating zones. This means designating specific areas for certain activities. For example, you can create a reading nook in your living room where people can relax and enjoy their favorite books.

Or perhaps you have a coffee bar area in the kitchen that is stocked with mugs and teas so guests can make themselves something warm to drink. Whatever zones you decide on, having designated spaces for certain tasks will make organization and cleaning much simpler because it will encourage people to return things to their designated spot when they are done using them and there will be fewer things lying around where they don’t belong – like toys scattered throughout the house.

Keep countertops clear

A lot of organization is about finding the right balance between being too organized and not organized enough. If you are constantly cleaning off your countertops because they are cluttered, then it may be time to reevaluate how well everything is placed in its designated spot and if there's a need to rethink what items you don't need and need to be re-homed.

Try using containers or bins to store certain items that do not need access every day so that they can keep out of sight and mind until you really need them. Items that need a new home can be donated to a local non-profit or post them in your local Buy Nothing or Sharing groups.

Use a Laundry Hamper

Having a designated place for everything also includes your dirty laundry. A great way to organize your laundry is by using a hamper or basket specifically for this task. This will keep your dirty clothes out of sight and mind until you are ready to do your laundry.

If possible, try keeping a small laundry hamper in each bedroom so that one person doesn't get overwhelmed with the task of cleaning up everyone's dirty clothing.

You can also use this as an opportunity to teach your kids how they can help around the house by putting their own dirty clothes inside of laundry hampers so that mom or dad doesn't have to constantly remind them what needs doing. By making organization part of everyone's everyday life, it will be much easier on you and on your Housekeeper!

Get a Cleaning Caddy

When it comes to cleaning, having the right tools can make all the difference. One great tool to have is a cleaning caddy. This is a small bucket or bag that you can fill with your favorite cleaning supplies and microfiber cloths so they are always close at hand when you need them.

You can even have multiple caddies in your home to make it crazy easy to clean. This is especially helpful if you have a specific area in your home that you clean on a regular basis like the bathroom or kitchen, or keep an additional caddy upstairs.

You can also consider investing in some organization tools to make cleaning even easier, such as an extendable duster to reach those hard-to-reach places without using a ladder (or having to get up on your tiptoes).

These are just a few tips and tricks for organizing your home. By following these simple steps, you can make cleaning a breeze! For more organization ideas, be sure to check out our other blog posts.
